The Spanish Mackerel and Spotted Mackerel really came on the bite ahead of the strong Southerly blow yesterday with plenty of action on Sunshine Reef and in Laguna Bay.

Fishing Noosa webmaster Bill 'Billybob' Watson (right) got out in the bay on his Swing 'Angler' kayak before daylight yesterday morning and was just finishing his first troll run North West of the 'Shoal' at 6am when the whole area erupted with surface activity and the 9kg 'Spaniard' he's pictured with slammed his trolled Pilchard bait. Bill was armed with a Wilson Live Fibre rod and a Shimano TSS4 reel loaded with 30lb Platinum line.

And the young guns were right in the thick of it all. In the photo below (from left to right) David Lewis (Brisbane), Mainze Rouse (Noosa) and Judd Nissen (Ballarat) were on a Cougar Too charter to Sunshine Reef yesterday morning when the waters started to boil with Spotties (3kg-5kg) and Spaniards (5kg- 7kg), giving all on board a chance to help fill the boat's esky before they left them biting to chase up a few reefies.
