Although there were limited opportunities to hit the outer reefs this week, Friday was an option that suited New South Wales visitor Rick Rogerson (below left) and Melbourne visitor Kurt Bansagi. On the way back from a 3/4 day Cougar Too charter to North Reef the guys were happy to pose with these 2kg and 2.7kg Maori Cod and Snapper.

Mike Adams (above right), from the U.K., boated this colourful 2.5kg Coral Trout while on a half day Cougar One charter to Sunshine Reef on Friday morning. He was kitted out with an Abu 7000 combo loaded with 10kg line.

Around about this time every year Laguna Bay is invaded by huge schools of baitfish, followed closely, of course, by large numbers of Tuna (Northern Bluefin, Mack and Yellowfin) plus voracious schools of fast and feisty Spotted Mackerel.
Shannon Crockford from Peregian Beach made a great debut in his Swing Angler kayak yesterday morning when he bagged a couple of 2.5kg+ 'Spotties' in Granite Bay. He was armed with an Abu 6000 combo loaded with 20lb braid and wire trace. The lure that got all the attention was a Gold Bomber 'Barra
Special'.
