Trevally and Flathead easily led the numbers count this week and here's
a few examples of the fish weighed in at Davo's. Below left we have a couple of young visitors down from Port Douglas for the week. Thirteen year old Alex Arnell (in the white) caught these 1.22kg to 1.54kg Trevally, and a few more, down at the river mouth on Wednesday night and as he only had two hands, got his younger brother Jhai to help out with the photo shoot. Alex was kitted out with a Silstar rod and an Abu 5 Star reel loaded with 14lb Fireline and a 25lb trace. His bait was live Herring on a 1/0 longshank Gamagatsu. |

| And on the right, Aaron Richardson used a live Herring to land this 1.31kg Flathead at Munna Point on Friday afternoon. He was using a Shimano baitcaster rod and Calcutta 200 reel loaded with 4kg line. |
| Tailor are a fun fish to target and when they're on, there's nothing better in the surf. Local angler Rob Cooke was more than happy with the 1.42kg and 2.425kg specimens he landed just South of the first cutting on the North Shore on Monday night. He was armed with a SnyderGlas rod, an Alvey 650 reel, 20lb Platinum line and 35lb Schneider trace. His bait was Bonito fillet on 2x5/0 True Turn hooks. |

right we have a quality catch in anyone's book. Young Melbourne angler
Tom Paton did very well to land this 1.7kg Trevally on Monday night, considering
his outfit was a Jarvis Walker 'Water Rat' combo. To hook and land one
of these excellent fighting fish on a first timer outfit is a good result
and to boat three others on the night was great stuff. Tom was using a
'Lively Lures' popper on 4kg line. Inland at the fresh water dams and lakes it's been pretty much business as usual and just to prove that point, Darryl Dimmick caught and released sixteen Saratoga (top weight 3kg) over a three day workout at Borumba Dam earlier this week. Darryl has been having great success with spinner-baits lately and this time it was with a selection from the Bassman range. He was working with his new G-Loomis Crankbait rod, to which he attributes a significant increase in successfully held strikes. |
