There was some frantic Trevally activity in the inner Woods Bay this week, especially late in the afternoon. Local angler Peter Morris (below left) was casting a Gladiator soft plastic Prawn from the bank on Thursday when the waters erupted and it was all on for young and old. Peter caught and released a number of 'Trev's with the 2.5kg (est.) 'Golden' he's posing with being his standout. He was using a Samurai rod, a Daiwa Laguna threadline reel, 6lb Fireline and 10lb mono trace.
Golden Trevally Amberjack
The Lanhams Hardware group booked Cougar Too for a full day at the Barwon Banks on Wednesday and Nambour sales manager Deen Saint (above right) was right in the thick of it. Deen claimed the day's top weight fish when his Pilchard bait attracted this 20.5kg Amberjack. He was using a Wilson Live Fibre rod and a Shimano TLD20 reel loaded with 60lb braid.

Snapper, as you can tell from the report, were certainly the high profile species this week, as young Chris Lacey (below left) found when he and his father Greg took a run to 'The Hards' on Friday. During the four hour session Chris boated half a dozen good sized Snapper with the 5kg specimen he's picture with being his standout. He was armed with a Shimano TLD Special rod and a Shimano TLD5 reel loaded with 30lb Spiderline. His bait? Pilchard on a Davo's 'Reef Rig'.
Snapper Snapper
And local angler David Blain (above right) claimed one of the top weight Snapper of the week when this 6.3kg 'Knobby' came over the side at North Reef on Saturday. He was using a Penn 320GTi combo, 30lb line and Yakka on a 5/0 hook.
