There's been a lot of baitfish activity out on the reefs and in the bay over the last few weeks so it's not surprising to see a few pelagics starting to turn up for the party. Local yak angler James 'Legend' Grant was trolling for Tailor from his Perception Swing kayak on Thursday when his Gold Bomber lure was monstered by the 6kg Mack Tuna he's pictured with. He was in the Southern part of 'A' Bay at the time and was armed with a G-Loomis rod and a Daiwa Certate reel loaded with 9kg line to a 'Knotted Dog' trace. Mackerel Tuna

Hall's Reef fired well earlier in the week as local anglers Rachael Zeidler and David Hatch found when they floated a few live Yakkas out in the area last Monday.

In both cases they were pulling up their baits to check them when they were slammed by these hard fighting Cobia, or Black Kingfish.

David's fish tipped the scales at 14kg while Rachael's was a good eating size 5.5kg.

Their outfit of choice was a G-Loomis 4kg rod and Abu Black Max reel loaded with 6kg line and 25lb mono trace.
