The Marlin have been in excellent numbers over the
last couple of weeks as Wade Batty from Doonan found on Saturday. Wade was
on a three quarter day Cougar
Too charter to North Reef at the time and was very pleased with
his 30kg catch and release trophy. He was using an Angler rod, a Shimano
6500 Baitrunner reel, 8.5kg line and a floated Pilchard.
Broad-barred Mackerel invade the Woods Bays at various times during December and January and last Monday afternoon they were there in numbers as David Asher and William Sims discovered. The guys were casting and fast retrieving Atomic soft plastics at what they thought was a Trevally boil when the Mackerel hit. The 1.6kg Broad-barred (left in photo) was the standout but they also boated Trevally (to 600gm) and caught and released a number of small Queenfish.
And how about this! From now on we'll be posting regular aerial photos of the Noosa Bar on the website, courtesy of Margaret Stanton of the Noosa Coast Guard. The photo below was taken at low tide (0.59 metres) last Wednesday and gives us a good indication of the channel access (as such) at the moment. Please remember these holidays to take care when crossing the bar. If you're in doubt, contact Davo's or the Coast Guard (Tel: 5474 3695) for the latest information.
The photo below? The skipper of this 11 metre catamaran completely missed the river mouth on his way in last night and ended up on Main Beach, 100 metres south of the river mouth groyne. He informed the Coast Guard of his situation, secured the boat overnight and is confident he'll be off under his own steam when the tide comes in. The mind boggles! ![]() MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL! SEE YOU IN THE NEW YEAR. |
