Boy oh boy, the Snapper sure have been prolific this year,
and of good quality too. Doug Keidge from Tewantin was out at North Reef
on Friday morning when this 5.5kg 'Knobby' took a fancy to his Pilchard
on 6/0 ganged hooks. He was armed with a Shimano rod and a Jarvis Walker
reel loaded with 30lb braid and 60lb trace. Oh, he also boated two Mahi
Mahi. ![]() |
The lads were out in force on Sunshine Reef on Thursday and
didn't they do well. Dan, James, Ryan and Kyle spent the whole day there
and came back with more than enough fish for a Christmas seafood banquet.
Using Pilchards, Squid and Mack Tuna fillets they boated a few Pearlies
plus the Sweetlip, Maori Cod and 5.5kg Red Emperor they're posing with.![]() |
And what's this? More Snapper, of course. Dominic Boast from
Woombye spends most of his spare time fishing rivers and estuaries and has
never caught a Snapper before. As you can imagine he was very pleased with
his first ever of this species and at 3.5kg it was a good fish. Dominic
boated this fish at North Reef on Saturday's Cougar
One charter.![]() |
