Noosa
Blue Water Charters documented the first Spotty Mackerel catch of
the season when Brendan Burgess (left) nailed this 4kg specimen on a Cougar
'I' trip to Sunshine Reef on Saturday. Brendan teaches Marine Studies at Sunshine Beach High School and as such oversees the annual class outing for year 11 students. On the right we have Clinton French looking very satisfied having landed this 1.7kg Giant Herring. Clinton nailed his prize on Wednesday morning up around the mouth of Lake Cooroibah. He was using an Abu Sonar Tip rod and an Abu BlackMax 6600 reel loaded with 14lb Fireline. His bait? Live Herring. |

| 'Rocket'
Rod Pertot created a real dilemma for himself on Sunday when he failed
to nominate who was in charge of 'what' rod placed in 'which' of his boat's
rod holders. When the Ugly Stik/Shimano 3500 Baitrunner combo went off, both his son Daniel (right) and nephew Chris grabbed for it, initiating an ownership battle that was still going on when this picture was taken. It wasn't hard to resolve: one fillet each of this 460gm Whiting satisfied both claimants. Their bait? Live Prawn on a No.1 longshank hook. |

The estuary exploded
with activity this week as the bread and butter fish came on the bite
with a vengeance. Whiting in particular were in good numbers and quality,
as you can see.
