With the school holidays on in earnest the young guns have been out in numbers on the beaches, in the river and offshore. Young Daniel Self (right), visiting Noosa from Tokyo, Japan, boated the 1.7kg Maori Cod he's pictured with while on a 3/4 day Cougar Too charter to Chardon's Reef on Friday. Daniel was kitted out with a Wilson Live Fibre rod and an Alvey 825C reel loaded with 30lb Pioneer Flexline.
His bait was a live Yakka on a 5/0 hook.

Spanish Mackerel

Local yak angler Richard 'The Pike' Pikus (left) has been trying hard lately to hook up and land his first ever Spanish Mackerel from his Swing 'Angler' kayak and on Friday he finally succeeded, and did it in style when this 9.5kg specimen came to the party. Richard was trolling a shallow diving Rapala lure around North Hall's Reef at the time. He was armed with a Shimano Taipan 6kg-10kg 'Snapper' rod and an Okuma Epix 60 threadline reel loaded with 20lb Fireline and 30lb trace.

And Peter Luttgens (right) from Clayfield in Brisbane boated the 3kg Scarlet Sea Perch he's posing with while out at North Reef on a full day Cougar Too charter on Wednesday. He was kitted out with a Wilson Live Fibre rod and an Alvey 825C reel loaded with 30lb line.
