| The Cobia were pretty active
at Sunshine Reef as local angler Lochy Leishman (right) discovered to his
delight on Friday morning. Lochy was on a half day Cougar
Too charter at the time and this 9kg fish was the standout of
the trip. He was armed with a Wilson Live Fibre rod and a Shimano 6500 Baitrunner
reel loaded with 8kg line. And Colin Millan (below) boated a 9.8kg Cobia at Sunshine on Thursday, a 7.8kg Spanish and a 4.6kg Spotted Mackerel in Laguna Bay on Friday and on Saturday, capped it all off when he trolled up an 8.3kg Spaniard just out from Hell's Gates. He was armed with a YAD Silver Creek rod and an Okuma CL450L overhead reel loaded with 50lb line and 70lb trace. The lures that did all the damage were Citer Lures Mini Hex Heads, pink or whiteline. ![]() |
