| Parrot Fish were in good numbers on Sunshine Reef this week as young Thomas McClune (below left) found to his delight last Monday. Thomas was out there fishing with his dad and popped into Davo's on the way home with his two standout (1.1kg) fish. He was armed with a Shimano TLD20 combo loaded with 10kg line. His bait? Davo's Pilchards. | |

| North Hall's Reef was a good option for those boaties wanting to get out of the westerly wind and Brisbane angler Mark Modini (above right) was no exception. Mark was floating out a live Yellowtail there midday on Wednesday when it was monstered by this 21.8kg 'Longtail'. His outfit? A Wilson Live Fibre rod and a Shimano TLD20 reel loaded with 12kg line. | |
The Woods Bays really fired towards the end of the week with
Trevally and Tailor hitting on soft plastics with complete abandon. Local
lads Lochie (below left) and Jason had a ball there today, catching and
releasing Trevally (to 2.5kg) in the morning and a 1kg Sweetlip and 1.8kg
Tailor this afternoon. Their lures? Squidgy Stealth Prawns and Atomic Prawns.![]() |
And it's nice to see the Snapper improving in numbers and
quality. Local angler Barney (below) was on a full day Cougar
Too trip to Double Island Point on Saturday when his Squid/Pilchard
bait combo attracted the attention of the 7.8kg 'Knobby' he's pictured
with. He was using a Wilson Live Fibre rod and a Shimano TLD15 reel loaded
with 10kg line. ![]() |
