Local angler Jason Hein, right, quite often comes up with an interesting or quality catch and this time it's a 4.5kg Mulloway or Jewfish, landed down near the Munna Point Bridge (or thereabouts). Jason braved the cooler temperatures in the early hours of Sunday morning and was rewarded with one other Jewie, one Trevally and a Flathead. Looks like he was after some big game too, armed as he was with a Wilson Live Fibre 15kg rod, a Daiwa Sealine reel, 15kg line and 50lb trace. His bait? Scaled Tailor fillet.
What can you say about a 30.5kg Cobia taken on 12kg line, apart from excellent work Geoff. Smithy, bottom right, boated this thumper Black Kingfish on Sunshine Reef last Friday after fighting it for 40 minutes. He was using an Ugly Stik and a Shimano Calcutta 700 reel loaded with 27lb Ultramax line. His bait was whole Pilchard on 3x5/0 ganged hooks. Helping him to hold it for the photo is fishing buddy Bob 'Gaffman' Brownlee.

A full day on the water at Double Island Point with Noosa Blue Water Charters is certainly well worth considering, as local anglers Larry and Deb McErvale will confirm after their outing on Monday.
Kitted out with Gary Howard rods and Alvey reels our dynamic duo had a great day and here they are with a couple of examples of their catch; a 4kg+ Snapper and 5kg+ Maori Cod. Deb was only one of two girls on the Cougar 'I' charter that day but word is they easily outfished the guys. The rest of the catch? Squire, Pearl Perch, and Parrot Fish plus more Maori Cod and Snapper.
