North Reef produced quantity, quality and variety this week although the 25.5kg Northern Bluefin Tuna that local angler Benjamin Masters (right) boated there on Saturday afternoon was without a doubt one of this week's standouts. Benjamin would have worked hard for this capture as he hooked this fish using a 45lb handline. His bait was a Yakka on a 6/0 hook.

Sunshine Reef wasn't listed as as producing anything more than the common species as detailed in the general report this week but when your catch is a 6.5kg (cleaned) Snapper you're entitled to classify it as anything but 'common'. Local angler Grant Brow (below) tempted this handsome (although only a mother would think so) Knobby while out there around dusk on Saturday. He was kitted out with a Penn overhead combo loaded with 15lb line and 80lb trace. His bait was Yakka fillet on a 3/0 Tru-Turn hook.
Snapper
Northern Bluefin Tuna

Snapper were once again in good numbers at all of the reefs and North Reef was no exception. Tewantin lad Rory Sanders (below left) did very well out there on Saturday and stopped in at Davo's (as everyone does) for a quick weigh-in and a brag on the way home. His top weights (pictured) were 4kg and 5.8kg, not a bad morning's work. Rory was armed with a Silstar rod and a Shimano 6500 Baitrunner reel loaded with 12kg line. His bait? Whole Pilchard on 3x5/0 ganged hooks.
Snapper Red Emperor
Red Emperor are a prized catch in anyone's book and the 4.5kg specimen that local angler Richard Leslie (above right) boated on at North Reef on Saturday morning is a prime example. Richard was on a half day Cougar Too charter at the time and loved every minute of it. He was using a Wilson Live Fibre rod, an 825C Alvey reel, 15kg line and Squid baits.
