Davo's manager Ed Vander Kruk, below left, had a long day last Tuesday, helping Shannon Watson (blue shirt) setting up for the Rex Hunt film shoot at Lake MacDonald, then fishing with Rex's other crew members Lee Rayner and Paul Worsteling, and later that night hosting the very successful 'Bream on Lure' seminar at the Tewantin Bowls Club. With over 100 people attending it was an outstanding evening with, as an added incentive, over $1000.00 worth of door prizes on offer. First Prize (a Daiwa CVX Heartland rod and Daiwa TDS threadline reel valued at $600.00) went to John Park, below center left, who was understandably over the moon to win this top of the line outfit.
Bream
Pam Luke, above right, from Wollongong in New South Wales, was more than a little excited when she weighed this 0.9kg Bream in at Davo's on Friday night. Pam boated this quality fish in the outer Woods Bay using a live Yabby on a 4/0 longshank hook as bait. She was kitted out with a threadline combo (unknown origin) loaded with 6lb line and trace.

Rex Hunt was everywhere on the water in Noosa this week and on Wednesday morning he fished the Woods Bays with Ed Vander Kruk. With the film crew in attendance it proved difficult to get a photo of any of the half a dozen Trevally the pair caught and released using lure and fly so you'll just have to wait until the segment airs on Channel Seven Television in the not too distant future. We did get a photo, however, of the 1.8kg Trevally that local angler Mark Sears (pictured with Rex) boated when he wasn't hosting Rex's camera crew for the 'away' shots. Mark nailed this quality fish using a 10gm chrome Toby 'Wobbler' lure. His outfit? A Reddington rod and a Daiwa Regal-Z 2500 reel.
Trevally Luderick or Blackfish
John 'Cobby' Cobb, above right, spent a couple of hours with Rex at the river mouth car park rocks on Thursday morning but with the very cool, fresh South/South Easterly making things a tad difficult, the Luderick (their target species) were slow on the bite. Nevertheless, 'Cobby' did land the 1kg specimen he's pictured with so as far as the film shoot went it was a 'wrap'. The bearded burbler flew back to Melbourne a couple of hours later, full of praise for the fishing opportunities that Noosa has to offer. We'll keep you posted as to when the various film segments will be going to air.
