There were a few big Spaniards on the prowl at Sunshine Reef this week but Bruce McClean's fish, below, estimated at around 30kg, was the standout. Bruce hooked this fish on Saturday night on his livie outfit - a Shimano Baitrunner 6500 combo loaded with 8kg line to a live pilchard. He had no trace so was lucky not to have been bitten off. Good effort mate.
Spanish Mackerel

'The Coffees' produced plenty of good snapper this week as Kelpy and Zane (below) discovered when they dropped the pick there on Saturday. The two fishing buddies used squid/pilchard combos to attract these 2kg to 3.5kg fish.
Snapper

Jarrod Dean and Piers Nyeholt (below) got a whisper that the fish were biting at Moloolabah so on Saturday they headed down that way. This thumper 18.5kg 'Longtail' and very nice 5kg sweetlip were more than ample reward for their efforts.
Northern Bluefin Tuna and Sweetlip

Melbourne visitor Sarel Klopper (below left) worked the waters around the Munna Point Bridge with a surface popper at first light on Saturday and was over the moon when this 1kg trevally smashed it hard.
Trevally Bream
Makyla Jeanes (above right) was fishing in the Woods Bays on Saturday when her prawn bait was monstered by the 24cm bream she's posing with. Makyla baited the line herself and proudly claimed the fish as all her own work. Go girl.
