The Perception Yak Anglers were focussed on pulling some big fish with big baits this week and as you can see by the photos below, the strategy worked very well. Club member James 'Legend' Grant (below left) trolled a whole Bonito bait North of Jew Shoal on Friday morning and was more than happy when the 5.5kg 'Knobby' he's posing with tried to run off with it. James was armed with an 10kg G-Loomis rod and a Daiwa Certate reel loaded with 20lb braid and 18kg leader.
Snapper Spanish Mackerel
And club President Bill 'Billybob' Watson (above right) made the long paddle out to Sunshine Reef on Saturday morning and, trolling a very large Yellowtail Pike on a 6x6/0 Davo's Spaniard Special troll rig, wasn't all that far away from Sunshine 'Wide' when the 17.5kg Spanish Mackerel he's holding in the photo took a real fancy to it. Bill was armed with a 7ft, 6kg-8kg Wilson Live Fibre rod and a Shimano TSS4 threadline reel loaded with 30lb Platinum line.

Flathead and Bream were the high profile species in the river this week and Tim and Chris (right) from Tewantin boated one of each while fishing off Munna Beach on Saturday.
The 600gm Yellowfin Bream and 1.5kg Flathead both found a Garfish strip on a No.4 hook simply too hard to resist.
The guys were using threadline combos loaded with 12lb line and 25lb trace.
