PAGE TWO

As mentioned earlier, the river mouth was one of the primo spots (again) this week with the top of the tide working best.

Sean Gardner from Victoria (right) was down there on Tuesday as the tide peaked and apart from a few bream, landed the 1.5kg (cleaned) tailor he's pictured with.

He was armed with a Jarvis Walker estuary combo loaded with 4kg mono line.

His baits were pilchards on small ganged hooks.

And Ben Allen (below right) did well down at the river mouth on Saturday morning using prawn baits as his draw card. Armed with a Shimano Baitrunner 3500 combo loaded with 8lb line, Ben landed these two flathead, top weight 1.1kg.
Red Emperor Flathead
Local angler Paul Grenfell and his buddy Ivan Jensen (above left) were up at Double Island Point the week before last when they got onto some excellent Red Emperor. The top weight fish (as pictured) tipped the scales at a very healthy 14kg each. They were a bit late with the pix but we thought we'd include them this week as we had a bit of space.

Black Spot Tusk Fish or Blue Parrot Fish
And the black spot tusk fish or blue parrot fish (above) that Ivan's posing with was also from Double Island Point and is an excellent example of that species. This fish, which weighed in at 7.8kg, took a live slimy mackerel on the first drop.
