Local yak angler Ian Tagg was paddle trolling in Laguna Bay on his Swing 'Angler' fishing kayak on Thursday when he stopped to toss a slug at a likely boil. Before he could even cast, however, the stationary hard body lure he's been trolling was hit by the 8kg Northern Bluefin or Longtail Tuna he's pictured with.
Ian was using a Penn Power Spin rod and a Shimano TSS4 reel with 25lb line to a 60lb mono trace.

Ian 'Tinny' Treloar spotted some very good looking water at Marcus Beach on Saturday morning and later that night set himself up there for a session on the the Tailor.
It didn't turn out to be as lively as he'd hoped but after he landed a couple of Bream he was rewarded for his patience when the 3.75kg Greenback Tailor he's pictured with monstered his Bonito fillet on 2x5/0 ganged hooks
Tinny was armed with a SnyderGlas custom surf rod and a Penn 8500 reel loaded with 20lb Schneider Superfine line to a wire trace.

The Coral Trout are still making their presence felt at Sunshine Reef and although many keen anglers usually get 'bricked' by these canny, colourful reef fish, Nick Dewar (right) wasn't one of them this time.

Nick dropped the pick there on Saturday morning and, using a Squid bait, soon attracted the attention of this 4kg 'Trout'.

He was armed with a Shimano TLD20 offshore combo loaded with 50lb line.

The first of five events in the Australian Bass Tournament 'Bass Pro' catch and release series for 2007 was held at Borumba Dam over the weekend and the weather and conditions could not have been any better.

There was even an international feel to the event this year with two Japanese anglers entered in this leg of the competition.

Two sessions were contested on Saturday and one on Sunday with the two biggest Bass (if any) in each session counting towards the overall score.

The $5000.00 1st Place prize went to Carl Jocumsen of Toowoomba with six fish weighing 5.95kg.

The $2500.00 2nd Place prize went to Davo's manager Mark Pertot (right) with five fish weighing 5.81kg.

The 1st Place "non boater" category was won by Noosa local Ross Paulger with five fish weighing 4.8kg.

All three anglers automatically advance to the Grand Final to be held in September.
