Tewantin angler Mick Allan, left, had a lot of fun on Tuesday morning when he took his surf ski out into Laguna Bay. Mick was armed with a Silstar telescopic rod and a Sigma spin reel loaded with 10lb line. Casting metal slug lures he hooked up repeatedly on Mackerel Tuna and found himself being towed all over the bay. His final tally was three of these feisty pelagics and the top weight was a healthy 4.5kg. And Laguna Bay was where Matt 'Gibbo' Gibbs, right, got his result yesterday morning using the new Rio's slug lures to good effect. Gibbo found that 'Tuna go hard' but still managed to boat these 6.5kg and 7.5kg Longtails. He was armed with an Abu Sonar Tip rod and a Shimano Baitrunner 6500 reel loaded with 10kg line. | ![]() |
The Trevally have
kept a pretty low profile over the last few weeks so here's a couple of
recent weigh-ins just to remind you
of what they look like. Pomona angler Tracey Ward boated her 1.67kg specimen
in the Woods Bays on Tuesday morning using a spin combo of unknown origin
and a custom lure. And early yesterday morning Tony Lake, far right, one
of Noosa's true gentlemen, boated his 1.7kg fish down in Noosa Sound.
Tony was armed with a Mitchell 4kg threadline combo loaded with 5lb line
and 15lb trace. His bait? A live Davo's Prawn on a No.2 longshank. |
