Jed Hollis from Noosa
Eco Fishing has been out of the picture, so to speak, for the
last couple of weeks having spent most of the time way out-wide and deep;
offshore fishing. But didn't he make a splash when he got back! After
a couple of days quality time with the family when he returned he popped
out to Lake MacDonald this afternoon to test the waters. And what a way
to do it! Trolling a C-Lures Borer deep diver lure (very appropriate since
this month's reports are brought to you by none other), he hooked onto
and boated what looks like being a lake record weight Mary River Cod.![]() The very large, very well conditioned fish is currently under observation at the Cod Hatchery at Lake MacDonald and will be officially weighed as soon as considered appropriate, although current estimates are somewhere between 12kg and 14kg. If found to be female it will be released back into the lake but if male will likely be kept for breeding purposes. Jed's outfit was a Silstar Powertip rod and a Daiwa Regal X 2500 reel loaded with 14lb Fireline and 10kg Mason leader. |
