There were plenty of Snapper around on the outer reefs this
week but local angler Justin Parry (below) staked his claim to the top weight
when he weighed this handsome 7.5kg 'Knobby' in at Davo's
last Monday. Justin boated this quality fish during a productive morning
session at North Reef. He was armed with a Wilson Live Fibre rod and an
Okuma EB80 BaitFeeder threadline reel loaded with 30lb Fireline and 80lb
mono trace. His bait was a live Yakka on snelled 5/0 hooks.
Local angler Ben Nothling (below) and a couple of his good fishing buddies had an absolute ripper late afternoon/early evening session out on 'The Hards' on Friday, bagging out on quality Snapper (to 5.2kg) and a wide range of reef fish. On top of that, Ben boated the boat's standout of the day when he hooked up with the 15kg Amberjack he's pictured with. They were using Wilson Live Fibre rods, Shimano Baitrunner 6500 reels plus butterflied Yakka baits and Bonito fillets. ![]() |
