| The Northern Bluefin
Tuna were really on fire in Laguna Bay earlier in the week with a lot
of anglers getting busted off by some serious fish. Local yak angler James
Grant (right) trolled up a 12kg specimen on Tuesday morning while paddling
his Perception Swing
fishing kayak along the shark nets directly out from Main Beach. He was
armed with a 10kg G-Loomis rod and a Daiwa Certate reel loaded with 20lb
braid and 18kg leader. His lure was a small gold 'Bomber'. And Justin (below) was trolling a whole Slimy Mackerel bait on his way out to Jew Shoal on Wednesday afternoon when the thumper 15kg Bluefin he's posing with hit it hard. His outfit was a Wilson Live Fibre rod and an Okuma EB50 reel loaded with 30lb Berkley Fireline. ![]() |

| The Flathead were
in good numbers this week and local kids Phoebe and Tommy Stewart and
their buddy Jethro Spencer were very happy with the 1.1kg and 1.7kg 'Lizards'
they boated around Tewantin (with the help of father Nick Stewart) on
Saturday. They were using threadline outfits loaded with 4kg line and
8kg trace. Their baits? Prawns on No.6 hooks. |
