Although the Snapper haven't come on the bite in a big way yet the Parrot fish made up for their absence this week. Dave Taggart from St.George, Queensland, (below left) boated these 2.8kg and 3kg specimens while on a full day Cougar Too charter to the Barwon Banks on Tuesday. He was using a Wilson Live Fibre rod, an Alvey 825C reel and 30lb line.

And even though the Coral Trout tend to go quiet during the winter months they're still ready to pounce on a well presented bait as Wade Hill (above right) from Tasmania found when he joined a 3/4 day Cougar Too charter to North Reef on Wednesday. Wade found his humble Pilchard bait was just the right thing to tempt this very colourful 2.8kg fish.

With offshore conditions relatively benign, those who could headed 'out wide' and 'The Hards' were on 'The Cards', as they say. Local angler Jason Andrews (right) made the effort on Wednesday and it paid off big time when the 20.5kg Amberjack he's posing with slammed his rubber tail jig on an 8/0 hook. Jason was armed with a Shimano Backbone rod and a Shimano TLD15 reel loaded with 60lb braid and 80lb trace.

And newbie yak angler Vaughan Robinson (below) christened his brand new Swing 'Angler' fishing kayak and his new threadline outfit (purchased from Davo's, of course) in the Woods Bays on Sunday when the 900gm Tailor he's pictured with slammed his trolled Gold Bomber lure. His outfit was a Silstar PowerTip rod and a Shimano Aernos 4000 threadline reel loaded with 14lb Fireline and 30lb monofilament trace.
