There weren't a lot of reports from North Reef this week but that didn't deter Mark Tippet and Chris Lacey (below left) from giving it their best shot on Sunday morning. As you can see it was a worthwhile trip with three keeper Snapper and (as pictured) a 19kg Cobia and 4kg Sweetlip the result. Their secret weapon, by the way, was Tailor fillet baits on 6/0 hooks.
Cobia and Sweetlip Pearl Perch
Pearl Perch were a big ticket item at the Barwon Banks as Tim Hetherington (above right) from Mooloolaba found when he went out there on a full day Cougar Too charter on Saturday. Tim boated the top weight Pearlies of the trip and at 4kg each they were excellent fish. He was using a Wilson Live Fibre rod and an Alvey 825C reel loaded with 30lb line.

Snapper were in numbers at all the outside reefs this week but the 7.5kg and 6.5kg fish that Paul Grenfell (below left) boated at 'The Hards' on Thursday were the standouts. Using whole Pilchard floaters as his draw card, Paul also boated Pearl Perch, Hussar and Amberjack. He was using a Gary Howard rod, a Shimano Calcutta 700 reel and 30lb line.
Snapper Spotted Mackerel
The Spotted Mackerel have been keeping a low profile lately so it was nice to see the odd quality specimen weighed in at Davo's over the weekend. Daniel Farge (above right) hit the jackpot at Sunshine Reef yesterday morning when this 4kg specimen monstered his Yakka bait. He was armed with a Purglas rod, a Shimano Triton reel, 10kg line and 60kg trace.
