Davo's manager Ed Vander Kruk, below left, fancied a spot of Barra fishing last week so he and fishing buddy Peter James made the three and a half hour run to Lake Monduran (South West of Bundaberg) on Tuesday. Although Peter got blown away by a thumper fish right at the boat, Ed managed to boat and later release the 6kg specimen he's pictured with. He was armed with a G-Loomis CBR 845 rod and a Team Daiwa TDX100HSD reel loaded with Fins Hivis 20lb braid to a 60lb Black Magic leader. The lure that did the deed was the ever popular Reidy's B52 in a gold pattern.
Barramundi Australian Bass
Lake MacDonald has apparently been quiet for some, but the supposed lack of activity was no deterrent to Davo's staffer and local Bass expert, Mark Pertot, above right. Mark had an early morning session there last Tuesday and apart from two 35cm Bass, caught and released the 50cm (2kg) fish he's pictured with. He was using a G-Loomis CBR 845 rod and a Shimano Calais reel loaded with 15lb Bionic braid and 20lb Siglon trace. His lure? A 5/8oz Bassman spinnerbait.

Noosa Blue Water Charters had another busy week while the weather held and on Thursday ran back to back half day charters to Chardon's Reef. Those anglers who managed to get on with them had a productive day as you can see by the following photos. John Fraser (left), from Menai in Sydney, was on the morning charter and is seen here posing with his standout fish, a 5kg Pearl Perch, although he did also boat a 4kg Maori Cod. John was kitted out with a Silstar Crystal Tip rod and an Alvey 725C reel loaded with 30lb Pioneer Flexline. The rest of the boat's catch was, apart from more Maori Cod and Pearlies; Squire, Moses Perch, Parrot Fish and Sweetlip.

And David Roberts (right), from Kangaroo Island, South Australia, was part of the afternoon group. David's 5.5kg Maori Cod was one of the standouts of the trip and as you can see it was a quality fish. David's outfit was a Gary Howard rod and the ever faithful Alvey 725C reel loaded with 30lb Pioneer Flexline.
