Big Bill Haack (below) has appeared on our website many times over the years and it has always, as in the case of the 15kg Jewfish he's posing with, been with quality fish. Bill was out at Chardon's Reef on Friday morning and while he did say it was very hard going, still managed to come back with enough fish to feed the neighbourhood. Bill attracted this Silver Mulloway with a live Yakka then went on to boat a nice Maori Cod before heading for home.

Ben Nothling (bottom of the page) marked a likely spot near 'The Coffees' on his GPS a while ago and with things being a bit ordinary out wide, decided it was worth a shot this week.

And how right he was.

He and his two fishing buddies had a great time there on Thursday and took as many pix as the fish they caught.

On the right we have Grant Panoho who boated a few school Cobia and the quality 3kg (est.) Parrot Fish he's pictured with.

And Peter Morris, right, was more than happy to pose with one of the 2.5kg (est.) Pearl Perch they boated.

Ben, of course, took most of the pix but did pause long enough at one stage, to have his photo taken with one of the 5kg to 6kg Cobia they boated on the day.

Eighty percent of the fish were caught on Berkley Gulp 7" Nuclear Chicken soft plastics (pictured right) and the rest were on Squid baits.

By the way. We've been asked to bring all local offshore boaties' attention to next month's inaugural meeting of the:

Noosa Boat Owners Offshore Fishing Club

The meeting will be held at the Villa Noosa Hotel Function Room on Wednesday December 5, from 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

What's it all about? To see whether there is any interest in meeting other boat owners and offshore fishing people to share ideas, experiences, fishing spots, plan trips and possibly hear from experts on boats, fishing gear, bar crossings and anything else of interest. Just turn up. For any additional information contact Bill on... 0438 746 347

Ok! So who won the 'Guess the Weight' Competition we ran in last week's report? Well, nobody got the exact weight right so it went right down to the line. The competition finished at 6pm tonight and the winners are:

Mahi Mahi: Blake Cole (Eumundi) wins with an estimate of 8.3kg. The listed competition weight was 8.2kg.

Sailfish:
Shane Medill (Tewantin) wins with an estimate of 35kg. The listed competition weight was 34.6kg.

The prize? Each receive a half day offshore fishing trip (worth $130.00) courtesy of Noosa Blue Water Charters.

Congratulations to the winners and many thanks to all who entered. Keep an eye out for the next competition!
