Trevally and Flathead have been in good numbers in the lower estuary recently and young Hayden Bertoli-Simmonds has done well with both species. This morning's take from the Woods Bays was a good example with these 1.9kg 'Trevs' and 1.4kg Flathead all caught on live Herring baits. Hayden, who needed his dad Chester's help to hold them for the photo, was armed with a Bream rod and a Gladiator spin reel loaded with 8lb line and 12lb trace.
Trevally and Flathead

Scott Perkins from Penrith, New South Wales (below left) was holidaying in Noosa this week and, with a couple of friends, decided to hire a fishing skiff from Kingfisher Boat Hire on Saturday and try their luck. And it was all good with Scott weighing in the 1.2kg 'Lizard' he boated in the Frying Pan. The friends were looking forward to a fresh fish lunch.
Flathead Trevally
Local lad Chris Bland (above right), like everyone else, was keen to get in on the Trevally action this week so he headed off in his tinny to try his luck around the Doonella Bridge area on Saturday. And, working the waters with a Pearl, Watermelon Power Bait it wasn't long before the 600gm 'Golden' was in his catch bucket. He was using a Stradwick Sick Stik and Shimano Sienna 2500 threadline reel loaded with 4lb Fireline and 16lb Fluorocarbon leader.
