There have been a number of quality Red Emperor or 'Government Bream' on the chew out on North Reef lately but local angler Craig Britten's 11.1kg specimen would have been the standout for the species this week.

Craig tempted this very impressive fish with a whole Slimy Mackerel on 3x6/0 ganged hooks and weighed it in at Davo's on Tuesday morning after a long night fishing session.

He was well armed with a Shimano Backbone rod and a Shimano Trinidad overhead reel loaded with 30lb line and 60lb trace.

The Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club, among other great member benefits, has a very active fishing club and Andrew Hewett (right) is one of the stalwarts.

Andrew, who also happens to be the club manager (the Yacht Club that is), reinforced his 'top dog' credentials during a full day Cougar Too charter to the Barwon Banks on Wednesday.

Armed with a Gary Howard custom rod and an Alvey 825C reel loaded with 30lb Pioneer Flexline, Andrew tempted this very nice 5.3kg Scarlet Sea Perch with a Pilchard/Squid combo.

With Laguna Bay being rather quiet lately, local yak angler Bill 'Billybob' Watson decided to dust off an old troll bait 'marinade' recipe and put it to the test in the outer bay on Saturday morning.

With a well 'primed' Yellowtail Pike as his main draw card he trolled East and West of the 'Shoal' and was eventually rewarded when the 2.53kg Snapper he's posing with came to the party.

His outfit was a 6kg-10kg Shimano Taipan 'Snapper' rod and a Penn 460 Slammer reel loaded with 20lb Fireline and 30lb Platinum trace.
