The Cobia or Black Kingfish were again in good numbers on the closer reefs this week as Kevin Plunkett (right) from Melbourne discovered when he joined a three quarter day Cougar Too charter to North Reef on Thursday. Kevin tempted this 10kg fish with a Pilchard bait. He was kitted out with a Gary Howard custom rod and an Alvey 825C reel loaded with 30lb line

Brisbane angler Paul Lehane (below) came up trumps while on a full day Cougar One charter to the Barwon Banks yesterday when he boated the 2.9kg Gold Band Snapper he's pictured with. His outfit was a Penn Power Stik and a Penn 320 GTi loaded with 25lb Braid.

Newbie yak angler David Peel (below left) christened his new Perception Swing 'Angler' in fine style on Thursday when his trolled Gold Bomber lure attracted the attention of the 2.2kg Doggie Mackerel he's posing with. David, who was paddle trolling across Hall's Reef at the time, was using a Silstar Power Tip rod, a Penn 4000 Affinity reel and 10kg braid.

Local angler Wayne Junghenn (above right) was very pleased with himself when he weighed in his catch after a trip to Sunshine Reef yesterday afternoon. And why not? At 7.1kg this 'Knobby' would be a standout fish in anybody's book.

There's still plenty of Snapper on the local reefs and Don Gibson from Lane Cove in New South Wales (below left) was one of the lucky anglers who bagged one. Don was on a 3/4 day Cougar Too charter to North Reef on Friday when this 3.5kg specimen took his Pilchard bait. He was using Silstar Crystal Tip/Shimano TLD 20 combo loaded with 25lb line.
Snapper Northern Bluefin Tuna
Melbourne angler Paul Hourmouzis (above right) just missed out on being in last week's report so here he is now. Paul booked himself on a full day Cougar Too charter to North Reef last Friday week during which he boated the 11kg Northern Bluefin in the photo. His outfit was a Wilson 10-15kg Live Fibre rod, a Shimano Calcutta 700 reel and 20lb braid.
