There's a general feeling that Laguna Bay is going to fire up sometime in the next couple of weeks and the appearance of a few Bonito and Mackerel Tuna schools and the odd Spotted and school Mackerel over the last week or two is certainly encouraging. Local yak angler James 'Legend' Grant (right) trolled up his first keeper size (3kg) 'Spotty' of the season on Saturday morning while trolling a Gold Bomber lure behind his Perception Swing Angler fishing kayak. He was armed with a 4kg G-Loomis rod and a Daiwa Certate threadline reel loaded with 4kg braid and 6kg 'Knotted Dog' trace. He was paddle trolling half a click north of Jew Shoal at the time.
