North Reef was quite productive this week with Cobia (Black Kingfish) being one of the higher profile species on the bite. And Gympie anglers Barry Keast and Steve Cranna were more than happy to accommodate these strong fighting sport fish when they dropped the pick there on Saturday morning.
Yakka strips on 4/0 hooks were their main draw cards and Abu 6500 offshore combos (with Penn and Ugly Stik rods) their weapons of choice. These 14kg and 16kg Cobia just didn't stand a chance.

And, of course, the quality Snapper just kept coming. Melbourne angler Brett Pogsley (and his unnamed fishing buddy) did well on the 'Knobbies' at North Reef on Saturday morning, with the standouts being these two 5kg fish.
Brett was armed with a 6kg- 10kg Shakespeare Ugly Stik and a Daiwa reel loaded with 20lb line and 60lb trace. The bait that did the damage was whole Squid on a 6/0 hook.

Team Davo's had an excellent 'away' win this week when senior staff member Mark Pertot (below left) and fishing buddy Les Smith (below right) took out top spot in the IBA Bass/Barramundi competition at Lake Monduran on the weekend.

Over the two day period the boys battled top anglers from America, Japan and Australia and despite the odds, came out on top with four winning Barra and one Bass. The lures that did the trick were gold and silver (chrome) Reidy's B52's.
