Northern Bluefin Tuna have been one of the 'buzz' species lately and North Reef has been one of the more promising areas to get on to one of these hard fighting sports fish. Don Mayfield from Victoria (below right) spent yesterday (Father's Day) morning there on Cougar Too and was more than happy with his standout; a 14kg 'Longtail'. Don is a regular visitor to Noosa, holidaying here for two months every year and going out on the Blue Water boats three or four times a week when he does. He was using a Wilson Live Fibre rod, a Shimano Baitrunner 6500 reel, 10kg line and Pilchard baits.

Chardon's Reef was also worth a shot for the 'Longtails' as Melbourne visitor Hannah Lawrence (below) found last Monday when she went there on a half day Cougar Too charter. She too was using a Wilson Live Fibre rod, a Shimano Baitrunner 6500 reel and Pilchard baits. Her fish weighed in at a respectable 10kg and would have given Hannah a run for her money.
